So this picture is not very big but I told one of my blog buddies I would post a pic of a cranking machine so TA DA! I love/hate this machine :) It is for your arms but you can also remove the seat and get a full body workout while cranking. I am sooooo not coordinated so I am still getting use to cranking while lunging/squatting or bending. I am sure people walking by get a good laugh cause I know I do!

So I weighed in today and....I lost 2 lbs this week! I am very happy but feel I could have done much better. I should have gone to the gym more and not snacked so much, but I am learning that everyday is a struggle and hopefully in time it will get easier. I have learned that a 2 hour workout at the gym should be rewarded with fresh fruit not french fries and icecream. I have learned I get WAY more done on the days I work out. I have learned my success is highly based on planning out my food intake for the day and writing it down. I have learned to have healthier snacks on hand and limit myself to 2 snacks a day. I have learned I eat when I am bored so I must stay busy. I am happy with my first week and look forward to a better week 2! This week I plan to eat better, push harder, work out more often and find my motivation!

Too much sun and sore feet!

Well the last 3 days have been filled with way too much sun and now today my feet are killing me. I do better when I blog everyday on my food intake because here I sit Monday morning and can't recall everything I have eaten for the past 3 days. We spent yesterday at Raging Waters and did so so on food. I had a turkey wrap, a boiled egg, a few pistachios a small portion of bruschetta. We then had a big BBQ last night at my parents house for Father's Day. It's actually pretty easy for me to eat healthy when we party at my parents house because my mom cooks really healthy stuff. She made salmon burgers and grilled chicken. I opted for the salmon minus the burger and let me just say .... so so good. She got the Salmon patties at Costco just FYI. I coupled it with fresh fruit, pasta salad and 5 chips...counting helps me control my portions. There were many dessert options but I chose the wrong path and had a big rich peanut butter bar...grrr... should have went with the 140 calorie frozen yogurt Creamie, would have been a much healthier option. Had a really fun weekend all around. My feet are really sore this morning from walking around all day yesterday with no shoes at the water park so I plan to hit the gym tonight instead of this morning. Besides Carter bug went all day in the sun yesterday with no nap so I figured I would let him sleep in this morning as well. Thank goodness for sunscreen but I am still beat. I started my new lifestyle half way through my current menu so tomorrow I am making a new 2 week menu and plan to buy healthier snack options and more veggies. I also weigh in on Wednesday so I am really hoping for a loss, less weight means more motivation!

So we ended up not having enchiladas last night, which was fine but I was stuck last minute needing to grab something for dinner. I opted for the apple pecan chicken salad from Wendy's... so so yum! I only ended up using one dressing... the lady gave me two for some reason. It was really good...so light and refreshing. Got up at 7:30 had a nutri grain bar and 1/2 a bananna for breakfast. Had a super intense workout at the gym...sweat my ass off! Love the kranking class! Came home and had a quick shower and it was off to the pool for a few hours...Didnt' do so hot at the pool...way too many munchies. I had 1/2 a ham & cheese wrap, grapes,strawberries and sun chips. I also over indulged in my sister's famous bruschetta(tried to contain myself but couldn't resist) and a diet coke to seal the deal...grrr....will make sure to take healthier snacks next time to the pool. It's now 6:15pm. My weight watchers meal is in the microwave and I will have some steamed brocoli with it. I am out for now...ironing to do and a dirty kitchen to clean. I work in the morning and then have to take GiGi shopping... I would like to hit the gym tomorrow evening and even Sunday, I may just be getting in the zone!

It is amazing how much energy I had yesterday after my morning workout, versus today with no workout....zero energy! I took a nap...which rarely happens and have just felt blah all day. My food choices have been good today...
Breakfast: nutri grain bar and crystal light
Vick took the day off so when I got home from work I made him breakfast around 9:30 and I did sneak 2 pieces of bacon...it just smelled so good!
Lunch: weight watchers meal with garlic toast and pineapple
Drank TONS of water today....got my 8 glasses in by 3pm.
Had an apple and a rice cake for a snack.
Leaving in a few to have dinner at Kasey's house...she is making enchiladas, so I will be careful on portion control...can't wait for the gym tomorrow! (can't remember the last time I said that)

Stupid gas station run!

So for dinner last night I had:

Chicken salad sandwich with 10... yes i counted...10 cheez-it crackers and crystal light

Then... i had to run to the gas station for milk and dun dun dun....the sweets!

These dang blue gummy sharks were staring me straight in the eye :) Yes I bought a bag and ate half the bag, Carter ate the rest thank goodness! Pretty good day all around...no more sharks from here on out!

My warped perception of my body!

I get in this bad habit...I don't think I look as fat as I am. I have this warped perception of what I "really" look like. I feel like a cute outfit and a good hair day make me look skinnier. But then I get on the scale or see a picture of myself and reality bites. Anyways...I will try and keep it positive but every now and then I need a moment to vent :) So today went like this...

Woke up 7am...watched the news and cleaned the kitchen
Breakfast: nutri grain bar and a banana
Woke Carter up at 7:30...got ready and headed to the gym
Gym 8-9:30
(treadmill 20min, elliptical 15min, recumbent bike 15min,rowing machine 10 min, 30min. cranking class---kicked my ass)
snack at 10am...crystal light, 100calorie pack, 1/2 apple and 1 tbsp. peanut butter
Lunch: weight watchers meal, garlic toast, mixed veggies and pineapple for dessert

Well it is 1:00pm right now so I will update the rest of my day tomorrow! Time for housework!

So I joined the gym today! I plan to use this blog to journal my progress and food choices. My first step towards a healthy life is to be accountable so here it goes. I started to really struggle with my weight almost 9 years ago when I moved away to college. I lived alone and found it much easier to eat out 3 times a day rather than cook healthy choices and eat at home. This lead to the lbs. adding up little by little. I got pregnant in the fall of 2006 and to my surprise I lost 20lbs. my first trimester. By the time I delivered my son I had gained back 15lbs but felt ok because hey it was still a 5lb loss in my book. I came home from the hospital and put my pre-pregnancy jeans on the very next day. I felt really good! I lost approx. another 10lbs while breastfeeding over the next 6 months but now here I sit 3 years later and 25lbs heavier. I am done being fat and uncomfortable. I have struggled back and back and back and forth with different diets,programs,pills,books.blah blah blah....with no success. So I decided to attempt the triple threat approach....work out, eat healthy and blog about it. I don't think I am brave enough...just yet...to share all my body measurements, even though I doubt anyone but me will be reading this. I do plan to journal my work out routine, food intake and weightloss success! So here is my first entry.

So I have been terrible ... yes terrible... at blogging lately. I finally sat down and figured out, ok Conner showed me how, to load the pictures from my phone to my computer. This explains so many one picture posts but hey.... at least it is somewhat of an update. We are all doing well. Once summer is over Vick will officially be in his second year of the MBA program at the U! He will finally get to take some electives and not just core classes. We just celebrated Carter's 3rd birthday and got him enrolled at Challenger for preschool this fall. I am still doing private home health visits 2 days a week and getting excited for good weather ahead to spend outdoors at ball games, the pool and the lake!

My friend Mandy and I took the boys down to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgivng Point. Carter was in heaven! He loves dinosaurs. The first room in was the sand area where you could dig for dinosaur bones...he was sure he was going to find a "Tree-Trex" bone!

Vick's brother Vivith came to Utah to visit us. He flew in Christmas Eve and was able to spend almost two weeks here. It was so great to finally meet him. Carter took to him right away. They were best buds while he was here. He brought Carter a bunch of clothes from back home and this is one of the shirts....strike a pose you little model!

Carter and I... along with GiGi...decided to head to visit my mom's sister who lives about 3o min south of Price. Vick was gone all week for work in Chicago so getting away for a few days helped pass the time. Carter had so much fun playing with his cousins. There was baseball, trampoline fun, roasting marshmallows,picnic at the park and a soccer game. Always fun to get away but always glad to be home.

Vick let me tag along last month for his big work convention in Las Vegas. Carter spent a couple days with grandma and grandpa in Utah. Last time we went to Vegas we were lucky enough to have our camera stolen from our hotel room and this trip our camera flat out broke after I had taken only one picture. So this post is done completely with used images from Google...except the statue in Cesars Palace that was the one and only picture I did get....exciting huh! I think we will just buy a disposable camera next time we go!

So after a few hours of letting Thanksgivng dinner settle, we decided to bust out the games. We all know how much Peggy loves games and nobody will ever play with her so needless to say she was ecstatic. We had tonz of fun and my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. It was my first time playing Apples to Apples...very fun! Mad Gab is always a blast.... Kasey is the pro, and then the classic Uno can't go wrong there. Can't wait til the next game night!

So I took Carter to get his haircut yesterday and what a nightmare. He absolutely hated it. Screamed and cried the entire time. It was almost worse that taking him to get his vaccinations. I walked out needing a stiff drink. So I thought I would post some pics of his first haircut and remember back to when he liked to get his haircut and would just sit there as quiet as a mouse. Vick and I had the chance to go to Boston for a few days last month. It was so great to get away! The city was gorgeous and such great weather. 13-10 Way to go Utes! What an amazing game last night. I jumped off the couch several times cheering on our Utes. Carter thought I was pretty funny for getting so excited he just kept laughing at me and waiting to see what crazy thing I was gonna do next. Way to go Utah! All I can say is sux to be the kicker for TCU... gotta love him though!

October 3rd was our book club and we decided to go to dinner first and discuss the book afterwards at Mandy's house. We went to a vegan friendly spot called Vertical Diner. I ordered the "Tiger Claw" aka the Tender Tiger which as you can see was more enjoyed by Carter than myself. I am not sure if it was a texture thing or a spice thing but it pretty much gagged me. I ended up eating half Carter's peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some fries. So with food not worth reporting I decided to just enjoy my beverage choice of water. I flagged down the waitress for a refill on my water and when she was handing my glass back to me she dropped it all over me. Not only was I soaking wet but it was ice cold. I have been told that my face was priceless! Once we stopped laughing I was able to stand up and somewhat dry myself off. Can't say I have had the sensation of peeing my pants in a very long time. All in all we had some good laughs so I guess that is all that really matters!

Here is Carter's new hairdo. I had been putting off taking him to get his haircut for far too long so I finally took him to Cookie Cutters and the girl was so cute and so patient with him. He screamed the entire time but not because he didn't want his haircut but because I took him away from the playground which they have inside. As soon as he was done he immediately stopped sobbing and ran over to the slide with a huge smile on his face.... little stink!!!

Our friends/neighbors that live upstairs have a little girl who Carter just loves to play with. The are moving to Arizona in a couple weeks so I asked Vickie to bring Carolisa down so the kids could get one last playdate in. The had so much fun! I love to just sit and watch them play. I turned on some music and they both went crazy dancing all around and they took eachothers hands and even danced together... too cute! We are going to miss our friends so much but wish them the best of luck!!!

So I was very excited when my mom told me my dad would be coming over on my birthday with a new shelf! I have been wanting to do something with this big white wall for sometime but just haven't got around to it. I love the shelf and with the addition of a few other things to the wall it is finally finished. I love my birthday wall!

WHEELER FARM

Andrea and I took the kids to Wheeler Farm a couple weeks ago. I forgot my camera so Andrea sent me these pictures. The kids had so much fun. Carter was chasing the ducks yelling.."Uck Uck Uck!" That is his version of "Quack." He was also very busy mooing at the cows and showing the pigs his stinky face and snorting. It was a lot of fun and afterwards we found a fun picnic spot by the river and had lunch.

Jordanelle Lake

Carter loved when the waves would come in and splash him. He just sat on shore and waited!

Carter loved the wave-runners. He got to go a ride with grandma and he didn't stop smiling the entire time. This kid is a little water monkey.

Our littel monkey all tuckered out. We flipped the raft over and made him a sweet little bed. We all had such a fun time and look forward to our trip next summer!

Carter had his 15month check up and that meant more shots! Poor little guy. I hate these appointments it is pure torture. When we got home he was walking around holding his arm all afternoon. At least we don't have to go back for another 9 months.

Family trip to Lagoon!

We took a family trip to Lagoon about a week ago. We were not sure how things would go with Carter but from the 1st ride he got on he was having the time of his life. He got so excited on every ride and I had a few sad moments realizing just how big he is getting. It was a fun experience, but one I would not like to repeat for about 3 years. We were all worn out by the end of the day and glad to get home.

This car ride cracked me up. The average age of the kids on this ride was about 4 or the younger kids were riding with an older sibling. Not Carter though :) He was just a cruising all by himself. What a stinker!

Carter reading his favorite book Alphabet Zoo. We read this book an average of 10 times a day which is a lot I must say but Carter is already saying the name of the animal and the noises they make so let's read it again!

Welcome to Wendover

Vick and I decided to take a little trip out to Wendover for the night. We left after Vick's company golf tournament on 07.11.08 It was nice to get away even if it was just to Wendover for one night. Vick got to play some poker I played a few of the slot machines, did some swimming, got my very own king size bed and woke up and drove home. Nothing super exciting to report other than my stupid neck injury in the pool which I will not go into detail about.

It is quite clear that Carter is a little too big for his play toy wagon but he has convinced himself otherwise so who I am to ruin his fun!
